The CDF's Activities

The CDF's activities take place during the theatrical season, usually running between September and June.

Our association does not offer « acting lessons »...

But allows members to develop their theatrical arts and crafts experience around common projects and by receiving help and advice from old hand members.
These activities include:
  • Productions of 2 plays taken from the French-speaking classic and modern repertoires (one in spring and one in winter). All phases of preparation, directing, rehearsals and productions are entirely managed by the CDF's active members, whether on stage or backstage. This can also be done with the help from affiliated members, depending on the situation.

  • « Les Tréteaux » (The Boards), a touring show with an educational aim, is usually made up of a series of sketches and a single-act play. Its limited logistic allows the actors to perform in front of Francophile and French-speaking organisations which request it. « Les Tréteaux » follows the CDF's not-for-profit policy: to this date, we only request a share on transport fees and administrative expenses to the welcoming organisations.

  • An approach of theatrical administration and production's trades, technical management and engineering (stage, sound and lightings), communication and advertising... organised around project's creations.

  • A reading committee, which aims to list plays among the French-speaking repertoire (classic, semi-classic and modern) that are likely to be produced by the CDF. This depends on its artistic direction and the group's profile for the current season. This committee is also in charge of keeping the CDF updated on current events of the French-speaking theatrical environment.

  • Regular social and cultural outings.
